A 2.4 GHz 20 W 8-Channel RF Source Module with Improved Channel Output Balance

This paper presents a 2.4 GHz 20 W 8-channel radio frequency (RF) source module with improved channel output balance. The proposed RF is composed of an generation/DC control part, power amplification and dividing part. A 2-stage amplifier (PA) combined gallium nitride high-electron-mobility transistors, including 25 transistor 2-way 120 transistors as the drive main PA, respectively. In addition, structure was applied to improve balance compared that previous module, differences phase magnitude between channels are alleviated within 0.35° 0.18 dB, water jacket implemented under PAs for liquid cooling; however, unlike in work, it designed by optimizing size reducing unnecessary materials using brazing process. at each 43 dBm, drain efficiency more than 50% GHz. total 244 mm × 247.4 30 mm, its volume reduced approximately 58.4% module.
